Last Sunday was a warm and sunny day. Seemed more like summer than January. We had a lot of good food, resources and services for our client guests. Out on the patio we had mounds of blankets and clothing, Dr. Graves brought us shoes, Carlos Deborja and staff were there with free phones and health insurance, City HeART did art work with the little ones and gave out hygiene kits, School on Wheels sent tutors for the older kids, and Carolyn Martin brought her phlebotomists and they did HIV Aids Testing. Yes, it was a busy 4th Sunday! Folks love coming to us on Sunday not only for all that, but because we are a positive vision and a source of love, acceptance and hope.
We interviewed several people and found that most of them were making progress with their life challenges. One young mom has enrolled for “High Set” to get her GED while she works 4 hours a day. She has previous experience working in home health so is trying to get into IHHS (In Home Health Services). She has been told she needs school supplies, non-slip shoes, and scrubs to wear for IHHS. She is a size large if anyone has one they are getting tired of and can donate it for her.
