What did Urban Community Outreach do in 2015?

  • In 2015 Urban Community Outreach provided 20,000 hot meals for 2,700 unduplicated individuals and family members of all ages and ethnicities who have come to us for help
  • Provided the weather activated Temporary Shelter for Long Beach
  • Provided healthcare services and mental health referrals to our partner, Mental Health America
  • We have assisted 10 people in receiving birth certificates and 3 to get their DMV identity cards
  • We have assisted 4 families in receiving free pre-school which put 10 children in safe, educational classrooms and allowed their parents to work
  • Assisted approximately 36 people with resume building and job searches
  • Provided 50 people a week with computer lab access
  • Taught computer skills to 132 people
  • Taught culinary skills to approximately 20 people
  • Helped 2 families with utilities
  • Provided 152 motel voucher nights for families
  • Assisted 4 families with rental assistance
  • Placed 4 families in permanent housing with services
  • Assisted 7 families with all new houseware and gently used furniture
  • Gifted new houseware items for 9 families
  • Assisted 2 families in receiving school uniforms
  • Partnered with Antioch University‚Äôs Bridge Program to provide up to 15 free transferrable college credits a year
  • Gave transportation assistance 9 times to individuals and family units assisting them to go to another state for jobs and/or family support
  • Held a Prop 47 Felony Reclassification Class to reclassify felonies
  • Referred one child to LINC Cares for classes and supportive services for a pre-school child with Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder where he is learning and growing
  • Referred 4 people to apply at In Home Healthcare Services which is helping them stay employed and housed and referred one senior to seek assistance through IHHS to provide services for an elderly brother
  • Had 1,711 unduplicated volunteers in 2015
